Terms of Service

Plain-language summary first, full terms below. This is an experimental testnet — read section 1 before anything else.

1. This is a testnet — SGNL has no monetary value

Read this first Galaxy SIGNAL is an experimental research/citizen-science prototype. The SGNL token has no monetary value, is not redeemable for currency or goods, and is not an investment. The network, any balance you hold, and any data on it can be reset, wiped, or discontinued at any time without notice — see the project's own whitepaper for the full technical picture, including its "what this is not" section.

2. Accounts and self-custody

You may mine or hold a wallet without creating an account (the browser webminer generates a wallet client-side; native tools store an encrypted wallet file locally). If you create an account (email/password or Google sign-in), your wallet's private key is encrypted in your browser before it ever reaches our servers — we never see or store it unencrypted, and we have no way to recover it if you lose your password and haven't kept your own backup. Losing access to your account or wallet backup means losing access to that wallet, permanently. This is by design (self-custody), not a support gap we can fix after the fact.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to: attempt to disrupt, overload, or attack the network or its infrastructure beyond normal mining/mempool use; submit fabricated data (e.g. hand-crafted hits that don't correspond to genuine Breakthrough Listen detections — the protocol already rejects these automatically, see the whitepaper's section on hit authenticity, but deliberately attempting it is still against these terms); use the service for anything unlawful.

4. No warranty, no liability

The network, site, and any associated tools are provided "as is," with no warranty of any kind — no guarantee of uptime, correctness, or continued operation. As an experimental prototype with no financial value at stake, we don't accept liability for any loss arising from its use, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

5. Changes

These terms, like the protocol itself, may change as the project evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date above.
